New opportunity to start a Master's degree in Olympic Studies
Applications are now open for the next intake of the MA in Olympic studies at the German Sport University Cologne. The course will start in March 2018, with the applications closing on 31 July 2017.
Implemented in cooperation with four other European universities and enjoying the support of the IOC, this fully-accredited Master's degree aims to provide students with an interdisciplinary knowledge of the Olympic Movement.
International teaching teams from the different cooperating universities will offer seminars in sport history, sport pedagogy, ethics, international relations, media/commercialisation and sport governance, all closely linked to Olympic studies.
Structured as a part-time programme, the degree is designed to encourage the recruitment of a wide range of participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

Last year, the University of Lausanne (UNIL) created a Sport Research Group to help establish a network of experts in the sports-health area and to promote research and analysis in this field, both inside and outside the UNIL.
The group aims to become a centre of excellence for research into everything from elite sport and leisure sport to sport for health and physical education, with many key topics directly related to the Olympic Movement.
The 12 domains of research include the Olympic Games and the globalisation of sport, as well as governance, doping, coaching and sports medicine. To find out more about the UNIL’s approach for all 12 domains of research and to explore collaboration opportunities, head here.
Moreover, the UNIL Global Sport & Olympic Studies Centre is also organising a series of interactive research seminars on topics related to sports history and Olympic studies. The next seminar will be held on 21 June on the topic of international sports leadership, with IOC Member Denis Oswald as the guest speaker.

Submit your paper for a new academic conference in rio, one year after the olympic games
Olympic researchers are invited to submit their papers for an international academic conference to be held in Rio de Janeiro on 4 and 5 August this year. The deadline for submissions is 30 June.
Held at the Santa Úrsula University and marking one year since the Olympic Games Rio 2016, the conference will bring together scholars and researchers working on Olympic topics, as well as technical management staff from last year’s Olympic and Paralympic events.
