IOC Session sets new strategic direction

The 146th IOC Session endorsed the strategic direction for the IOC towards 2032 to make the IOC and the Olympic Movement "Fit for the Future".
 

With their support for the strategy proposed by IOC President Kirsty Coventry, the IOC Members laid the foundation that will allow the IOC and the Olympic Movement to remain strong, relevant and impactful in the years to come.
 

“Fit for the Future” was presented to the IOC Session under five themes:

• Athletes
• Olympic Games
• Olympic Movement
• Olympic Impact
• Engagement and Revenue

FIBA joins OWL Network

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has become the first International Sports Federation and fourth overall partner of the Olympic World Library  (OWL) network.  
 

The FIBA Pedro Ferrándiz Library is managed by the FIBA Foundation and recognised as one of the world's largest and most comprehensive basketball libraries.  
 

Overseen by the Olympic Studies Centre (OSC), the OWL serves as a library catalogue, an information portal and a search engine entirely devoted to Olympic knowledge.  
 

The OWL Network was launched by the OSC to offer a turnkey solution for library management and bring together Olympic library collections from around the world into a single, collaborative platform and meta-catalogue for Olympic knowledge and literature.

Our new and carefully curated collection of educational resources and learning materials is now available on the Olympic World Library.
 

The collection offers educators and lecturers a comprehensive framework to build course material, inspire reflection and encourage meaningful engagement on the values, history and societal impact of the Olympic Movement.

Call for applications for the 2027 edition of the PhD and Early Career Academics Research Grant Programme

Since its creation in 1999, the programme has supported 148 young researchers worldwide, awarding grants to advance research on the Olympic phenomenon. For some recipients, the journey has also included a visit to the Olympic Studies Centre in Lausanne, where they have accessed our unique collections, including primary sources from the IOC’s historical archives. 

Please help us to promote this programme and encourage high-profile candidates to apply. Deadline for application is 22 September 2026.
