“DISCOVERING PIERRE DE COUBERTIN” EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE
We have recently launched a new educational programme titled “Discovering Coubertin”, aimed at
teachers and their pupils and students (+15 years).

The resource is built around a selection of original words by Coubertin that illustrate his
vision / position on topics including the symbols and values of Olympism, sport for all, the
participation of women at the Olympic Games, sport’s contribution to international understanding
and peace, and the spirit of chivalry and fair play.

Each theme is supported by questions to encourage reflection and discussion among the students
about how Coubertin’s thoughts were perceived in the historical and social context of the late
19th and early 20th centuries and to extend the reflection to today’s societal context.
