ON THE LINE WITH AN EXPERT - OVER 125 YEARS OF OLYMPIC VENUES: POST-GAMES USE

In April 2022, the IOC published a report entitled "Over 125 years of Olympic venues: post-Games use", the result of three years of research carried out in collaboration with the Olympic Studies Centre. The study and its findings were presented to an academic audience in an “On the Line with an Expert” session.

The IOC experts presented the methodology applied and the findings of this first-ever official inventory of the post-Games use of Olympic venues, which covers 51 Games editions, from Athens 1896 through to PyeongChang 2018.

You can find the presentation session here, and read the full report and the executive summary.

OSC 40TH ANNIVERSARY

On 6 October 2022, the Olympic Studies Centre celebrated its 40th anniversary. In the presence of the IOC President, Thomas Bach, the IOC Director General, Christophe De Kepper, and many distinguished guests, both onsite and online, the OSC team had the pleasure of celebrating this special event and shone a spotlight on the OSC’s key achievements over the past few decades.

The many kind messages and testimonials received by members of our network in the run-up to and during the event were gratefully received and encourage us to look to the future with excitement.

We thank all those who have collaborated with the Olympic Studies Centre during these last 40 years and contributed to its development and success.

You can watch the full ceremony here.
