NEW ACADEMIC OLYMPIC STUDIES AND RESEARCH CENTRES FROM AUSTRALIA
After the publication in 2020 of our new “Guidelines for the Academic Olympic Studies and Research Centres” (OSRCs), we are pleased to welcome the following three new academic centres based in Australian universities in the list of OSRCs in the world:
- Australian Centre for Olympic and Sports Studies of the University of Technology Sydney,
- Olympic Research Network of Victoria University,
- The University of Queensland Centre for Olympic and Paralympic Studies.

2022 PHD STUDENTS AND EARLY ACADEMICS RESEARCH GRANTS AWARDED
The Olympic Studies Centre, with the support of its Grant Selection Committee, has awarded eight
projects with a research grant for the 2022 edition of the PhD Students and Early Career
Academics Research Grant Programme.
The topics of the research projects selected include, among others, the effects of Olympic
Agenda 2020 on urban planning, parkour facing the Olympics and an exploration into the role of
uniforms in the production of gender in the Olympic Games. You can consult the list of grants

The 2023 edition of this research grant programme will be launched in April 2022. The rules and

FAIRNESS, INCLUSION AND NON-DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF GENDER IDENTITY AND SEX VARIATIONS
The IOC has released its new “IOC Framework on Fairness, Inclusion and
Non-Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity and Sex Variations”.
This Framework recognises both the need to ensure that everyone, irrespective of
their gender identity or sex variations, can practise sport in a safe
and harassment-free environment and the interest of everyone - particularly
athletes at elite level - to participate in fair competitions.

OLYMPIC AGORA BEIJING 2022
In the framework of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, the Olympic Foundation for
Culture and Heritage presents the second edition of the Olympic Agora.
At the heart of the online programme are seven Olympian Artists-in-Residence who were
selected to create and present new, original artworks inspired by the Olympic values and
the magic of winter sports. The Olympic Agora Beijing also features two live educational
events, based on the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) and an online exhibition
of rare, vintage black-and-white photographs that capture the Olympic Winter Games and
their evolution from 1924 to 1968.

The publication presents the background to the reforms of the approach to Olympic host
elections, the implementation of the approach, rules of conduct and transparency, engagement and
promotion as well as suggests some reference documents.
OLYMPIC REFLECTIONS AND HUMAN DIGNITY, by NELSON TODT ET
AL
This collective and international work presents itself as a theoretical contribution to the
renewal of the Olympic Movement with consequent influences on high competition sport. The texts
discuss the growing plurality of identity in human relations and its impacts on sports
practices.
