ON THE LINE WITH AN EXPERT: SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SPORT IN OLYMPIC AGENDA 2020+5

As part of our mission to foster and support education and research, and to promote the dialogue between the IOC and the academic community, we recently held the sixth “On the Line with an Expert” session, this time on "Social development through sport in Olympic Agenda 2020+5". Addressing more than 120 academic researchers connected from around the world, Jojo Ferris, Head of the Olympic Refuge Foundation, presented how the IOC works to strengthen the role of sport as an important enabler for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and how it supports refugees and populations affected by displacement through the Olympic Refuge Foundation. 2022 EDITION OF THE PHD STUDENTS RESEARCH AND EARLY CAREER ACADEMICS GRANT PROGRAMME LAUNCHED

We have launched the 2022 edition of the research grant programme for PhD research students and early career academics, which is aimed at encouraging research with a humanities or social sciences perspective on any aspect dealing with the Olympic Movement and/or the Olympic Games. The application form and the rules, including all the information concerning the eligibility criteria, the application procedure and the grant awards, are available here. The deadline for submissions is 27 September 2021.

DISCOVER OUR NEW PAGE WITH ALL OFFICIAL REPORTS

We are pleased to present our new page on the Olympic World Library, giving you easy access to all the Official Reports of the Olympic Games. These reports are the most comprehensive set of publications for each edition of the modern Olympic Games since their inception in 1896, and are a unique and invaluable source of reference. Usually available in English, French and the language of the host country, and published in several volumes, the documents are designed to make the candidature, planning and staging of the Games easily understood. Check out the page here.

JOURNAL OF HUMAN SPORT AND EXERCISE

On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the Journal of Human Sport and Exercise recently published a special issue devoted entirely to Olympic-themed articles. It is composed of articles presented at the Olympic Studies Forum held in 2020, and includes contributions in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The articles cover topics that include Olympic Education, Olympic Legacy, Social Inclusion, the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games. You can find all the articles here.

OLYMPIC DAY WEBINAR - 6TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF EXERCISE AND SPORT SCIENCES

The Academic College at Wingate and the Olympic Committee of Israel will organise on June 9 2021 an Olympic Day Webinar within the framework of the 6th International Congress of Exercise and Sport Sciences. The webinar will emphasize the importance of the Olympic Games in Tokyo and have organized special sessions regarding different Olympic topics such as Olympic Education and Olympic History.
