ON THE LINE WITH AN EXPERT «DIPLOMACY OF THE OLYMPIC MOVEMENT»
As part of our mission to support academic professors and researchers and strengthen the dialogue between the IOC and the academic community, we recently held the fifth “On the Line with an Expert” session, this time on the topic of the "Diplomacy of the Olympic Movement". Addressing more than 80 academic researchers connected from around the world, Pere Miró, the IOC Deputy Director General for Relations with the Olympic Movement, presented how the Olympic Movement, under the leadership of the IOC, develops its diplomacy to promote the fundamental principles of Olympism and contributes, through sport, to the promotion of peace, coexistence, tolerance and non-discrimination among countries, communities and ethnicities. ZOOM-IN ON THE PARALYMPIC GAMES
The impact of the Paralympic Games goes far beyond the world of sport. As a result of a long journey, which started in 1948 with the Stoke Mandeville Games, and thanks to the close links they have today with the Olympic Games, the Paralympics have improved awareness of and attitudes towards people with disabilities, created a more inclusive society and provided better facilities that improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. 4TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OLYMPIC WORLD LIBRARY
The Olympic Studies Centre celebrated the 4th anniversary of the launch of the Olympic World Library (OWL) on October 16, 2020. It has become the number one resource for Olympic knowledge, with close to 300,000 people from over 200 countries around the world visiting the platform. Simultaneously a library catalogue, an information portal and a search engine, the OWL offers free access to the OSC’s unique library collection, which contains over 36,000 monographic titles, of which 10,500 documents are directly accessible in electronic format. Institutions interested in installing a search bar linked to the OWL on their website can contact studies.centre@olympic.org. MARKETING FILE 2020
The Olympic Marketing Fact File is the reference document on the marketing policies and programmes of the IOC, the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games. This recent edition contains the most complete information available as of 1 January 2020 on the various revenue-generating programmes, including very insightful overviews of the history of Olympic sponsorship, broadcasting, ticketing, licensing and much more. OLYMPIC SOLIDARITY 2019 REPORT
